We’re all in this thing together if we want to be

And apparently, many of us do.
Social viewing is on the rise. Social viewing is live chat among those who are watching a program on television at the same time. Doubts have arisen, perhaps unfairly, about whether the older set can or cares to multitask to that extent — and among those who can’t think of anything they’d have to add to the conversation between a useless “pass the popcorn.”
I have yet to delve into a social viewing room, but I did have a fabulous time microblogging with friends on Twitter during the presidential debates. There was some awesome live-viewing commentary! And, throughout the whole election cycle I made heavy use of the Twitter Election Buzz Map to feel the zeitgeist. And those two activites share the same spirit of sharing observations in real time with people you may not know beyond their contributions to the chat.
Have you done any social viewing, and what did you think?
