Your favorite TV dad depends on your age…maybe

MikeBrady1See if you’re typical in your choice of Favorite TV Dad…yes, it’s been the subject of research.

A few excerpts below:

Polls of the US population usually show that different age and demographic groups have their own favorites. However, with TV dads, this did not hold true, as only one group (Matures, ages 64+) did not pick Cliff Huxtable as their favorite TV dad.

Interestingly, of the top 15 television dads, only one is currently on primetime TV (Homer Simpson), while seven of them are from shows from the 1950s or 1960s, and two were on shows set in the 1950s or earlier.

Maybe it is the economic crisis or just a desire for the days of old, but it seems when picking their favorites, Americans are looking back to simpler times and maybe even happier times,โ€ Harris said in a press release.

About the survey: The study included 2,681 US adults surveyed online between May 11 and 18, 2009.

  • It's wonderful to read about a female poet coming of age in this era, especially with Anne Sexton as a mentor for a short while, but so many other poetic luminaries as well. I'm also finding it encouraging to know, being 38 myself, that one can jumpstart her career at this age. Thank you for this inspiring interview, Julie Kane. http://Like-Acer.com

Well, I don't know many of these people.

Maybe it's because i don't watch much TV.

But, I have to agree with Mary, I hadn't heard about C. Huxtible, and maybe Ward Cleaver.

Any Taylor I know from reruns with the fishing pole and Barney.

If nothing else, this article shows me I have a lot to learn.
  • Funny! Does "The Cosby Show" ring a bell?!

I feel out of it. I never heard of Cliff Huxtable.

I know the others, but this guy slipped through my life undetected.

Where was I when he was winning the hearts of millions.

    Who is Cliff Huxtable????
